Communal flare-up in Vadodara, 2 injured

VADODARA: Two persons were injured in police firing during a tazia procession here late on Sunday night.
The procession was passing through Panigate area when the members of two different communities engaged in a scuffle and hurled stones at each other, a senior police officer said.
"A policeman was also manhandled when he tried to disperse the mob and bring the situation under control. The officer fired two rounds in the air but during the scuffle two men suffered injuries," city police commissioner Manoj Sashidhar said.
The injured were immediately taken to a hospital and they were said to be out of danger. Police said a few persons were injured in the clashes and they were also moved to a hospital.
Police on Monday arrested 13 persons for rioting.
