While eastern brown snakes are generally not aggressive and prefer to stay away from humans, 'in a situation like this the outcome could have been unfavourable', says Elite Snake Catchers.
In this case, thankfully, the 4.5-foot-long reptile was removed safely and relocated.
The Facebook post, meanwhile, has gone viral with over 2,300 reactions and more than 2,000 shares.
"Great. So now in addition to checking my shoes, and the toilet, for snakes, I also need to pat down my bed," writes one commenter. "That's it!!! From now on sleeping with all windows / doors closed!!" says another.
Eastern brown snakes can grow up to a length of 7 feet, and their venom causes the blood to clot heavily, according to the Telegraph.
