The Photo Bombers

Getting a picture clicked has become a new technique to be in limelight

I have always wondered how people know all the top celebrities in the world and are photographed with them when their reputations are otherwise quite dubious.

What do you mean?

Haven’t you seen how people are photographed with kings, queens, prime ministers, presidents, princes, princesses as if they are long lost buddies?

Yes I have seen that but how do you think they manage that?

I have heard there is this page 3 regular who gate crashers most society events with her photographer and then stands next to ministers and presidents as if she knows them and gets photographed.

But isn’t it embarrassing doing that? What will the ministers think?

Well if you notice the ministers are not even looking at her.

That is so sad. In the past people wanted the autographs of celebrities now they want to be photographed with them!

There is this publicity hungry pseudo celeb who dresses up, manages an invite to high powered soirées, gets herself photographed by her personal photographer, gets a picture of the high society chief guest and then morphs her picture next to the celebrity so people think she is friends with the powerful people.

I know that is so easy nowadays with computer graphics, animation and Photoshop being a part of everyday life.

There is this small time celeb that has burnt her page 3 bridges here and is now operating abroad getting photographed with the top stars and celebs in the West.

That must be quite expensive going abroad to do this?

It is, but then one has to give a little to get some fame.

Yes, I suppose you have to make some investments if you want to be famous.

I’ve even heard that there are small time celebs that are willing to pay for invites to big ticket parties and then go and stand quietly next to high-powered people to get photographed?

This is getting really sad, why do this?

For many faux celebs their life depends on which famous personality they are seen with.

Really is that how their lives are these days?

Yes, for them borrowed glory makes them feel great. So they spend their days searching for big parties, which they can attend either by gate-crashing or buying their way in.

That is really tragic.

They want outside validation all the time or they feel they are not worthy.

Why do they do this?

They do it so that their confidence is at optimum level otherwise they feel useless.

What has the world come to, don’t they have any self-worth and respect?

If they did they would not make fools of themselves by trying to be in the company of celebrities they don’t even know.

I suppose these are the New Age Photo Bombers whose lives depend on being seen in print or in the cyber world.
