The annual ‘Alai Balai’ following Dasara organised by senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former union minister Bandaru Dattatreya was celebrated with usual enthusiasm by political leaders across parties at the Exhibition Grounds on Sunday.
Among those who took part included Union Ministers Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Finance Minister Eatala Rajender, Home Minister Nayini Narasimha Reddy, CPI general secretary S. Sudhakar Reddy, Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao, TRS MPs K. Visweswar Reddy and A.P. Jitender Reddy and Legislative Council chairman M. Kodandaram.
Mr. Dattatreya welcomed the guests with a warm hug, symbolising ‘Alai - Balai’ which is a connotation for greeting each other.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu sent their greetings which was read out on the occasion. Artists played music and performed dances to the entertainment of the large gathering.
