THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police have issued a look-out notice for a young couple who had gone missing from the Varkala Government Hospital on September 27. Mohammed Thangal Kunju, 27, and his wife Swaliha, 27, went missing from the hospital after leaving a suicide note.

The couple was undergoing treatment after they were allegedly attacked by their neighbour, the police said. “They had apparently received repeated threats from their neighbour. We suspect they might have fled to Puthenchanda near Varkala in an autorickshaw,” said an officer. Though the police conducted an extensive search for them in the district in the past three days, their efforts went in vain.

Sources said the couple decided to flee after the Varkala police allegedly failed to register a case against the culprits who had attacked them.

The incident took place a week ago when the couple got into a tiff with the neighbour. Later, the argument took an ugly turn and the neighbour assaulted Thangal Kunju.

In the suicide note, the couple alleged the police had done nothing to bring the culprits to book. Refuting allegations, the police said they did register a case on the very day they received the complaint.
