A number of molestation and stalking cases in Mumbai have increased lately, one such incident took place on Friday, at Bandra railway station, where a 26-year-old man allegedly molested a 21-year-old woman. But the Bandra government railway police (GRP) nabbed the man on Saturday, with a help of a college identity card which he left behind at crime scene.
According to a report Hindustan Times, the incident took place on Friday, at around 8.45 pm, when woman was walking on the foot over bridge after which a man grabbed her from behind. The FIR filed by the woman read, “I turned around in shock, and saw him staring at me. I slapped him hard, following which he fled.”
But while fleeing from the scene, the man dropped his bag which the woman picked and handed over to police. The police after receiving the complaint from the woman registered an FIR under section 354 A (punishment for sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
An official from the Bandra GRP told Hindustan Times, “We found his college ID in his bag and used it to track him down.” The police identified the accused as, Mohammad Nadeem Shaikh, 26, and is a resident of Anandnagar in Mahim. The next day police laid trap outside Mohammad Nadeem Shaikh’s house and arrested him around 9 pm on Saturday.
