GUWAHATI: Banks has set a target of disbursing loan to the tune of Rs 1,000 Crore under MUDRA scheme to small entrepreneurs of Assam in 2017-18.

State Bank of India (SBI) chief general manager, PVSLN Murty while speaking at Mudra Promotion programme in Guwahati on Monday said, "Out of of Rs 1,000 crore, SBI's target is Rs 650 crore. SBI is soon coming out with a helpline facility to help people with queries on MUDRA scheme."

Department of financial services joint secretary, Pankaj Jain said the thrust is now to gradually move to less cash and digital platform in banking services.

"We need to reach to more people to help transition from cash-based to digital based. We also know that connectivity is a challenge in Northeast, but we have to overcome the challenge so that people don't loose confidence," Jain said.
