Holiday Rock & Roll Bash Breaks All-Time Record: More Than $1.7 Million Raised to Benefit The Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research

03:31 EDT 2 Oct 2017 | PR Newswire

BETHPAGE, N.Y., Dec. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Cablevision Systems Corporation (NYSE: CVC), AMC Networks, and The Madison Square Garden Company presented the eleventh annual Holiday Rock & Roll Bash on Tuesday, December 6, to benefit The Lustgarten Foundation.  The event raised more than $1.7 million, which is an all-time high for The Lustgarten Foundation's annual holiday fundraiser and the most money ever raised in a single night for the fight against pancreatic cancer. Cablevision underwrites all of The Lustgarten Foundation's administrative costs, so every dollar of the more than $1.7 million raised goes directly to pancreatic cancer research.

More than 1,000 guests attended this year's event, which was held at the legendary Hard Rock Cafe in the heart of Times Square. The evening's entertainment included a rock-and-roll and blues performance by The Straight Shot, along with a special performance by the world-famous Radio City Rockettes and their good friend, Santa Claus.

Created in 2001, the Holiday Rock & Roll Bash has become The Lustgarten Foundation's premier annual event and its most important fundraiser.  Since its inception, the Holiday Rock & Roll Bash has raised more than $13 million to benefit pancreatic cancer research.

Lustgarten Foundation Executive Director Kerri Kaplan said: "We are deeply grateful for the tremendous support we receive each year from all who attend this important event. And thanks to Cablevision's support, 100 percent of every dollar raised for the Holiday Rock & Roll Bash goes directly to pancreatic cancer research. These funds are critical as we continue in our mission to detect this deadly disease earlier, to develop better treatments and ultimately, to find a cure."

Former Cablevision Vice Chairman and Madison Square Garden Chairman Marc Lustgarten established The Lustgarten Foundation, along with Cablevision Chairman Charles Dolan and Chief Executive James Dolan, following his diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in 1998 before he died the next year. Today, the Foundation that Marc Lustgarten inspired is the nation's largest private foundation dedicated solely to funding pancreatic cancer research, providing more than $38 million to research since its inception.
