In a world where people are more worried about their earthly possessions than psychological well-being, spiritual leader Dalai Lama makes us feel that there is still hope for people to see things that are beyond sight. On one hand we have people who are bullying others because of their body shape and colour, and on the other hand, we have people like Dalai Lama who make us believe that there is more to all this than the tangible possessions we have. Tenzin Gyatso who is commonly known as the 14th Dalai Lama earlier today shared a post on his social media account to make people remember something of this nature. He wrote, “People go to great lengths to look physically attractive, but inner beauty is a more important and stronger basis for lasting relationships.”

Here Dalai Lama is trying to say that people nowadays try to so hard to fit in the society, they to great lengths just to get accepted by other people, where in the process they often forget themselves. The accent now is on physical beauty only. In his statement, he wants to make us know that inner beauty is more important. While the physical attractiveness will last only for a period of time, our inner beauty will stay with us forever. And with this in our hearts and minds we can build more stronger and long-lasting relationships that will leave us satisfied and will not deter us because of any odd extraneous reason.
Earlier in the week, Dalai Lama also talked about friendship and trust. He said, “As social animals we need friends and what attracts them is trust. And trust grows when we show real concern for others’ well-being.” No one in this world can remain alone and be happy. We need friends, family to share our happiness and sorrows with, people whom we can trust.
