10,064 beneficiaries to enter new houses in Guntur today

GUNTUR: As many as 10,064 beneficiaries of the NTR Housing Scheme will celebrate house warming ceremony in the district on Monday to mark World Habitat Day. AP Housing Corporation Project Director S Nagasiva Rao on Sunday said 35,993 houses were sanctioned for Guntur district under the NTR Housing Scheme at a cost of `673.09 crore.

The sanctioned houses were allotted to 57 mandals of 17 Assembly constituencies in the district. Construction of 10,064 houses has been completed at a cost of `116.03 crore and the completed houses have been allotted to the beneficiaries to enable them to celebrate the house warming ceremony.

In Guntur West constituency, 520 houses out of the total 1,542 sanctioned units, have been constructed. Out of the total 790 units sanctioned, construction of 296 houses has been completed in Guntur East segment. Out of the total 33,661 sanctioned houses, 9,248 units have been built in the remaining 15 Assembly segments. The beneficiaries of the housing scheme include 1,993 SCs, 544 STs, 3,311 BCs and 3,460 OBCs, he said, highlighting the significance World Habitat Day and this year’s theme ‘Housing Policies: Affordable Homes’.
