Hyderabad rains: 3 dead; schools, colleges shut as more showers expected today

Heavy rainfall hit normal life due to waterlogging, snarled traffic and power failure on Monday evening. A four-month-old boy and his father were among three persons killed in rain-related incidents in the city lashed by heavy rain yesterday evening, reported PTI. The Indian Meteorological Department, Hyderabad officials attributed the sudden downpour to a thunderstorm. All schools and colleges will remain shut on Tuesday as more downpour is expected. (ANI)

According to Skymet Weather, these spells can be attributed to the trough that is extending from East Bihar up to Coastal Karnataka across Odisha and Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh. (ANI)

Hyderabad Police took their Twitter handle and said that there is traffic jam from Afzalgunj to MJ Market, due to waterlogging Near Begum Bazar Old Police Station, waterlogging is up to 3fts. It is requested take an alternate route. They also posted an emergency number for the needful. Dial - 100 or GHMC -040-21111111, Hyderabad Police posted. (PTI)

As per Skymet Weather, Hyderabad may record one or two good spells of rain for the next 24 hours. (All India Radio)
