CM directs officials to prepare an action plan within 15 days

The State government is considering launching a special package to promote use of energy-efficient appliances in the State. The government is focussing on the appliances which are capable of saving power and bring down the electricity bills considerably. The special package will be launched shortly.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, addressing a tele conference on energy efficient appliances with the Ministers and officials on Sunday, asked the officials to prepare a special package with energy efficient appliances for households of all sections in the State. Asking the officials to devise an action plan within 15 days for the implementation of the scheme, Mr. Naidu said, “Energy savings are as important as energy generation. We have been implementing energy efficiency activities with innovation. As part of its endeavours to promote energy savings, the government has plans to provide the special package to the people.”

Different kits

The package consists of different kits with different numbers of star rated fans, LED tube lights, LED bulbs in each kit, if possible any other appliance. The cost of the appliances will be less than the market price and also with a better quality.

There should be no compromise on the quality of the appliances. Also work out on a proposal to offer all energy efficient appliances on equated monthly instalments, which would be billed to their electricity bills, he said.

Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Nara Lokesh said that a high level meeting to discuss about expediting the process of installing LED street lights in villages was scheduled on Wednesday. As many as 35 to 40 lakh LED street lights would be installed in 13,500 villages in three phases. The process of installing 10 lakh LED street lights in villages of five districts, Anantapur, Kadapa, Chittoor, Vizianagaram, and East Godavari, would be taken up in the first phase soon, he said, adding, installation of the LED street lights would save ₹669 crores in 10 years and 444 million units of electricity per annum.

Energy Minister Kala Venkat Rao, Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana, Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar and others attended the conference.
