Daan Utsav: 16 ways of giving

Paint the town: City as a Canvas

more-in

iVolunteer has another initiative lined up for Daan Utsav: City as a Canvas, which aims to beautify as well as sanitise the city's walls with the help of volunteers.

The NGO, whose office is in Vile Parle, provides volunteers for social activities as well as opportunities to people wishing to paarticipate in such causes.

Walls of buildings or premises in the city usually end up being a canvas for spittle, betel juice and other waste material, spoiling the city's appearance and breeding disease. iVolunteer has invited citizens to team up with them to clean the walls and paint murals on October 2.

Says iVolunteer member Srabani Biswas, “We have taken permission from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to paint 300 walls in the city that are under its purview. These are walls of civic schools, ward offices, walls of two NGOs and boundary walls of open grounds.”

There is no fixed theme for the murals, as the basic objective is to sanitise the walls and discourage people from dirtying them again. Not only does the event aim to inculcate awareness of art, but it also hopes to spread motivational messages through the paintings.

Anyone can participate, although if they are below the age of 13, they need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

* How you can contribute: Visit the iVolunteer centre at Vile Parle (East) on Oct 2

* Who to contact: Srabani Biswas, 9619277443
