Bigg Boss 11 premiere LIVE: Salman resumes as witty host; four 'neighbours' chosen for the house

    Bigg Boss remains the most controversial show on Indian television and with the 11th season set to premiere on television screens on Sunday, speculations about the reality show have been doing the rounds for months leading up to the big day. The latest update is the confirmed list of a few inmates that will be inhabiting the house this season.

    Hina Khan, Shilpa Shinde, Vikas Gupta, Dhinchak Pooja. MTV Splitsvilla ex-contestant Priyank Sharma, Haseena Parkar's son-in-law Zubair Khan, Haryanvi artist Sapna Chaudhary and Tantrik/Godwoman Shivani Durgah are some of the confirmed contestants on season 11 of the show.

    Things have escalated, ladies and gentlemen — the next contestant is a female Swami Om, "Godwoman" Shivani Durga. 

    She says that Swami Om misused the Bigg Boss platform, and that he's a "fraud tantric".

    When one of the "neighbours" Sabyasachi asked Sapna Choudhry, "your concerts in Haryana are considered vulgar, and you get paid money for it too (rough translation)" — Salman shut that down by saying, "toh paise ke bina kyun dance karengi?" 

    Yes. Correct answer, Salman.

    The next contestant, Sapna Choudhry, seems to be a Haryanvi dancer celebrity of some sorts. She makes her entry onto stage dancing a song that sounds oddly like the Bhojpuri sensation, Lollipop Lagelu.

    Apart from the contestants, four additional "neighbours" have been chosen - to make thing a tad bit more difficult for the contestants.

    Salman informs, "Hiten thinks he's the first contestant in the house. But that's not the case. There's someone else in the house — in the Kal Kotri. A jail in the basement of the house"

    We meet Akash Dadlani, who is one of the common contestants. He's so fascinating with his accent, and obsession with rap, that even Salman looks on as Hiten and Akash meet.

    There are four "neighbours" who are kept in the dark at the moment, who decide if the celebrity is "fit" to enter the house now. But we're not shown their faces. Mystery, mystery!

    Varun Dhawan makes a grand entry dancing around the beautifully decorated interiors of the Bigg Boss house. Taapsee Pannu and Jacqueline Fernandez join him, both looking stunning! Taapse is in a black and blue blouse-and-skirt combo, while Jacqueline is wearing a maroon dress.

The 11th season of reality show Bigg Boss premieres on 1 October.

The reality show — an Indian version of international series Celebrity Big Brother — features celebrities locked inside a house for three months under constant camera surveillance, without any gadgets or luxury. It will be back with the eleventh season with Salman as the host.

The theme of the upcoming season will revolve around neighbours.

Firstpost's Seema Sinha wrote about her tour of the Bigg Boss house here. She writes, "Apparently, each of the contestants will be pitted against each other as padosis or neighbour. The house will reportedly be divided into blocks with each belonging to two inmates. The cameras will keep a tab on the contestants, and this year, 90 cameras will be watching their every move."

“We have more cameras this time as compared to last season. With so many cameras, the house has to look good from every angle. Hence the walls are done up in different ways and also painted with vibrant colours. Then it’s fully lit up all the time,” said the National Award winning director, Omung Kumar who has designed the house.

Sinha further writes, "Like the previous years, the house has a swimming pool, a gym and a jail in the lawn area. But this time, the jail has been built underground to make it darker and more frightening. The jail seems to have no amenities other than three string cots. “It is a dangerous looking jail - the kind I had shown in Sarbjit. The ‘prisoners’ can see outside but they will rot inside,” said Kumar, who, along with his team, has taken 55 days to design the house."

Salman Khan will have Judwaa 2 actors Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu as his guests during the opening episode of the upcoming show.
