Former MP’s grandson escapes from hospital to evade arrest

BENGALURU:  The grandson of former MP and liquor baron D K Adikesavalu, Geetha Vishnu, who was booked on Thursday for negligent driving and possession of marijuana, escaped from Mallya Hospital during the early hours of Friday morning, evading police arrest.Vishnu had allegedly rammed his SUV into a van near South End Circle on Wednesday night injuring six people, including three children. The condition of all the six is said to be out of danger. Soon after the incident, Vishnu got himself admitted to Mallya Hospital as he allegedly sustained minor injuries. He was kept under police custody. Around 6.15am on Friday, he managed to escape from the emergency exit of the hospital with the help of another person, who is suspected to be hospital staff. In the CCTV footage available with Express, Vishnu is seen walking out of the hospital.

Four teams have been formed to nab the youth. Police have already visited his house in Ashoka Pillar and farm houses in Whitefield and Chittoor in his pursuit. After the accident, when police seized the vehicles, they found 110 gm of marijuana in Vishnu’s car. A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was booked against him at Jayanagar police station. Police said that they have registered another complaint at Cubbon Park police station, as he evaded arrest, and also against people who have helped him.

DCP (South) S D Sharanappa said, “We have issued notice to the hospital asking them on what grounds they admitted Vishnu to ICU. We will also be writing a letter to Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute to seek the same. We also have got leads on Vishnu’s whereabouts and are confident about nabbing him.”
