Probe commission on Jaya’s death assumes charge

CHENNAI: Retired judge A Arumughaswamy, the one-man commission to inquire into the death of the late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, took charge on Saturday in his office allotted at Ezhilagam. He is expected to commence the probe within a few days.

Meanwhile, in a statement here, DMK working president M K Stalin raised a volley of questions pertaining to the circumstances that led to the hospitalisation of Jayalalithaa and sought clarifications on what happened in Apollo Hospitals.

Stalin said when DMK president M Karunanidhi urged the government to release the photographs showing Jayalalithaa recuperating at the hospital, many condemned it. But, now they too demand not only photographs but also videos.

Stating that Jayalalithaa was brought to the hospital through an ambulance of a private hospital, Stalin wondered how an ambulance was not kept as part of the chief minister’s convoy at her residence. He also questioned the report that Jayalalithaa, who was admitted in a semi-conscious state, chaired a meeting on the Cauvery issue.

As per the statement of T T V Dhinakaran, even V K Sasikala could not meet Jayalalithaa after October 1. In that case, who had got the thumb impression for the by-elections to three constituencies and who signed the statement relating to the party’s victory in the said elections, he wondered
