Tirchy-based model Aarav won the first season of Bigg Boss Tamil, one of the most-watched reality shows on Tamil television, after spending 100 days in the house. Host actor Kamal Haasan after making an emotional speech about his political debut at the finale held in EVP film city here on Saturday night, handed him the much-coveted Bigg Boss trophy and a cheque for the Rs 50 lakh prize money.

Snehan was declared second runner-up, while actor Ganesh Venkatraman was announced as the third runner-up of the show.

Oviya and Kamal Haasan were, as usual, the ones in the limelight.

Audiences reportedly cheered the loudest for actress Oviya, who attended the finale along with the rest of the eliminated contestants, even as they were waiting for the result.

Directo Shankar along with producer Dil Raju who also attended the finale announced that Kamal would star in the lead role in his next 'Indian 2', a sequel to the 1996 hit film 'Indian' which starred Kamal Haasan. The news of the film (which was about an ex-freedom fighter trying to root out corruption from the country) created more buzz for the actor's much-awaited political innings.

With 19 contestants, Bigg Boss premiered on June 25 on Star Vijay. Despite numerous controversies, its popularity continued to rise.
