However, Kedar Jadhav and Axar Patel struck at regular intervals to dent Australia and Virat Kohli’s side followed it up with some excellent death bowling to restrict Australia to 242/9. A win for India in Nagpur will seal their spot as the No.1 ODI side. Australia had ended India’s nine-match winning streak with victory in the Bangalore ODI. Having rested their two main bowlers – Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah – in the fourth ODI in Bangalore, India may be tempted to rework their bowling line-up today. But there will be lot of focus on local lad Umesh Yadav, who should retain his place.

The Vidarbha Cricket Association ground has one of the longest boundaries and that should be good news for India’s young spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal. One should see a good contest between India’s bowlers and Australia’s batsmen, especially David Warner and Aaron Finch.

The VCA ground has not hosted a ODI since October 2013 but the pitch here has traditionally produced plenty of runs. This is a new wicket and unlikely to deny the fans a run feast.

India have won both of their previous encounters with Australia at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur.
