Pink Access Foundation Offers a New Way to Support Cancer Awareness

10:18 EDT 1 Oct 2017 | PR Newswire

OAKLAND, Calif., Nov. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- On November 14, 2011, the Pink Access Foundation will host the annual "Pink Access and Lavender Too LIVE" event at the Claremont Hotel. Coming just after National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the event raises money for community-based organizations that provide support and education to those affected by cancer.

The Pink Access Foundation is a nonprofit that focuses on helping disadvantaged communities deal with the hardships of cancer. Pink Access parties offer the Oakland community the opportunity to "party with a purpose." Free to the public and to all who wear pink (or lavender), the "Pink Access and Lavender Too LIVE" event celebrates the lives of cancer survivors and remembers those who have passed. All proceeds from the event go directly towards cancer awareness, education and support services.

"The Pink Access event has become somewhat of a staple in the Oakland community. This event is an amazing way to pay respect to those who have been affected by the disease," says Oakland Vice Mayor Desley Brooks. In addition to Oakland Vice Mayor Desley Brooks, the 2011 Host Committee will include Oakland Mayor Jean Quan and Council President Larry Reid.

The event will also feature a live musical performance by GRAMMY Award Winner D'Wayne Wiggins. "I am honored to perform at this year's Pink Access. I'm familiar with the event and it always does an incredible job inspiring everyone who attends," says Wiggins.

Throughout the evening, guests will have the opportunity to bid on and win exclusive auction items including an African safari, private dinners, a pink Vespa scooter and spa certificates.

Following the Pink Access and Lavender Too LIVE event, those looking to get involved in the cause can visit the Pink Access Foundation Facebook page http://on.fb.me/tAVhgA. There via a Root Square Fundraising application, fans can donate money, share the fundraiser with friends, and track the campaign's progress for one year. In addition, those who donate will be randomly selected for the opportunity to win prizes throughout the campaign. The first contest will award Oakland Raiders tickets to the person who has raised the most money during the month of November.

The Pink Access Foundation and Pink Access parties represent a new way to support cancer survivors, and their families. By raising funds for a number of organizations, the nonprofit benefits a wider network and thus creates a larger community of those committed to the fight against cancer.
