Heavy rains in metropolis, more till tomorrow

The metropolis and many other places in south Bengal received moderate to heavy rain today, even as the department forecast more precipitation till tomorrow.

Overnight rains in till 8.30 am this morning was recorded at 22.1 mm, the department said.


Diamond Harbour and sea resort town of Digha recorded 33.1 mm and 32.6 mm precipitation respectively during the same period, the department said.

The festive spirit, continuing through the weekend though the Durga Puja ended yesterday in accordance with the almanac, was marred to a large extent owing to intermittent showers.

A large number of pandal hoppers ventured to different parts of the city since morning but the rains that continued during the day time played spoilsport. Some areas in adjoining even got waterlogged due to the sharp showers.

The weatherman has also predicted heavy rains at isolated areas in north Bengal districts for the next one day.
