An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 on the Richter scale shook the Andaman Islands on Sunday, an official said. No casualties or damage was reported.
"An earthquake of magnitude of 4.5 hit Andaman Islands at about 20:05 hrs. No damage was done," Andaman and Nicobar Chief Secretary Anindo Majumdar told IANS over phone.
The epicentre of the quake was in the islands region at a depth of 10km.
"It's quite a normal phenomenon. There is nothing to fear," he added.
