INS Gharial, an India naval vessel, which was carrying nearly 700 tonnes of relief material as an aid to Rohingya refugees has reached Bangladesh’s Chittagong port. The relief material will be distributed among approximately 62,000 Rohingya families, who are now staying in Bangladesh. The High Commissioner of India has handed over the materials to the District Commissioner of Chittagong at a ceremony held on September 28. The offloading of materials was completed today, as per The Indian Express.
According to PTI report, the relief material contains essential items including food, clothes and mosquito nets etc. The assistance is being provided by New Delhi for the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh as part of its humanitarian aid.

Earlier on September this year, a C-17 aircraft of the Indian Air Force delivered around 55 tonnes of relief material for Rohingya Muslim refugees in Bangladesh. The C-17 Globemaster was positioned at short notice at Delhi and loaded overnight with daily necessities like rice, pulses, sugar, salt, cooking oil, ready-to-eat meals, mosquito nets, and other material to ferry to Chittagong. The aircraft departed on September 14 from Delhi and delivered the consignment at Chittagong around 12:45 pm on the same day to help Bangladesh deal with an influx of lakhs of Rohingyas who have taken refuge there, as per IANS report.
