BJP’s Janaraksha Yatra from October 3 to 17

Bharatiya Janata Party national executive member V. Muraleedharan has accused the rival fronts of abetting jihadi terrorism and the CPI(M) of preventing other parties from functioning in their strongholds.

Mr. Muraleedharan, who is also coordinator of the Janaraksha Yatra to be taken out from Kannur by State president Kummanam Rajasekharan, told reporters here on Saturday that the presence of Keralites in terrorist strikes in different parts of the country was a pointer to the growing influence of jihadi groups in the State.

The intolerance of the CPI(M) against other parties functioning from its strongholds would be taken up with the people, he said.

The Left Democratic Front and the United Democratic Front are abetting such elements that grew in the space created by the Indian Union Muslim League and the party was making gains from such developments, he said.

BJP president Amit Shah will launch the yatra on October 3 and walk with the party members from Payyannur. The yatra will cover 11 districts, except Kasaragod, Wayanad, and Idukki. Union Ministers and other national leaders will walk along with party workers in the yatra which will end on October 17.

Mr. Shah will rejoin the yatra on October 5 at Thalassery and then at Sreekariyam here to the public meeting venue on October 17.

Asked about the differences of opinion between the BJP and the Bharath Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS), he said all parties of the State unit of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will participate in the yatra. Mr. Muraleedharan said he did not believe that a party formed for the welfare of the oppressed would quit the front for not getting positions.
