A big attack has been averted due to the alertness of Punjab police. The state police on Saturday arrested seven Babbar Khalsa militants who had planned to target anti-Khalistan people. Speaking to the Indian Express Ludhiana Police Commissioner RN Dhoke confirmed the development and also said that the militants had received funds from abroad. “They had the motive of targeting people who wrote against Khalistan but our timely intervention foiled their plan,” ANI quoted Ludhiana Police Commissioner as saying. Dhoke further said, “They were in contact with Surinder Singh Babbar, a terrorist based out in England, through Facebook.”
Earlier, ahead of the Independence Day celebrations in August, Delhi police had issued posters of ‘ wanted terrorists’ across the national capital. Special Cell of Delhi Police had issued posters of terrorists at all prominent places in Delhi which had included operatives from Babbar Khalsa. The posters also carried photos of absconding Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Indian Mujahideen (IM). The arrest comes at a time when the country is all set to enter the festive season.
