Ujjain: A ceremony felicitating senior citizens was held in the city as part of international day for older persons, on Friday. Speaking at the ceremony, divisional commissioner MB Ojha, called the bonding of the elderly over decades as a fine example and guiding force, for the younger generation.
Eleven senior citizens were feted during the ceremony. Rameshchandra Gupta, Pt Shreedhar Vyas, Poonam Vyas, Makhanlal Goyal, Dr Shiv Chourasia, Dr Harish Pradhan, Dr Kedarnath Shukla, Suresh Upadhyay, Radheshyam Sharma and Govindnarayan Shukla were honoured by their respective family members.
Former divisional commissioner Mohan Gupt said, elders always had a huge responsibility in the present times, when the existence of joint families was decreasing. Such occasions, he said would bring the younger generation closer to the older generation. The ceremony was organized by social group Jeevan Udghosh. Prakash Vyas conducted the ceremony and Pankaj Mittal proposed a vote of thanks.
