Speaking to media here, MP and spokesperson T.K.S. Elangovan said, "Governor is going to act according to the wishes of the (BJP). I don't think there will be any change in approach."

Earlier in the day, President Ram Nath Kovind appointed Banwari Lal Purohit as governor. This is the first time that the state has got a full time governor after retired in August 2016.

Maharashtra governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao had additional charge of since Rosaiah's retirement.

Purohit was earlier appointed as the Governor of Assam by the President on August 17, 2016. He has been a thrice elected member of parliament from Nagpur, twice on the Indian Congress's ticket and once as a member.
