With just 5 days left, SCCL poll campaign intensifies

KHAMMAM: With only five days left for the Singareni Collieries Company union elections, political parties have sped up the campaign and putting all efforts to win the recognised union election. Polling is on October 5 and campaign will end on October 3.

TBGKS (TRS), AITUC (CPI ), HMS (Hindu Mazdoor Sangh), BMS (BJP) and CITU (CPM party) are contesting in the elections and there is a tough fight between TBGKS and AITUC. Congress and TDP’s unions INTUC and TNTUC are supporting AITUC and other unions are contesting alone.

Last time in September 2012, TBGKS won the SCCL union election for the first time and this is the second time it is contesting in the polls. Political parties like CPI, Congress, TDP and TRS leaders are making elaborate campaigns in all colonies and open and under cast mines.

TBGKS is assuring employees of providing dependent job scheme , `6 lakh loan to construct house without interest, no priviatisation of mines, no income tax for the employees and the formation of wage board agreement.

The AITUC is assuring employees that if they come into power, they would obstruct privatisation of mines, provide interest free loans for construction of houses to all employees, ban income tax for employees, reduce working hours to and implementation of wage board. On behalf of TBGKS, all top leaders including Khammam MP Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, MLC Palla Rajeswara Reddy, Kothagudem MLA Jalagam Venkata Rao, among others including minister Tummala Nageswara Rao is conducting the election campaign and from AITUC union, Congress party president Uttam Kumar Reddy, TDP working president Revanth Reddy, CPI party state secretary Chada Venkata Reddy and former MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao and party district secretary S K Sabeer Pasha are participating in the campaign.

All union and political party leaders are conducting gate meetings, campaigning in employees colonies and also campaigning from house to house. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao entrusted the responsibiliy of making TBGKS win to Khammam MP Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy.

Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said that the employees are showing faith on KCR, who is taking the state towards Bangaru Telangana. He said that TBGKS is going to win the elections with a big majority as more than 2,500 employees and leaders have joined TBGKS from opposition unions in the last 15 days.
