58-year-old man arrested for killing son-in-law

Saudagar Ali (58) was arrested for killing his son-in-law, Rafat Ali, whose decomposed body was recovered from the forest area near Bitto petrol pump in Manimajra on Friday. Rafat, who used to work at a local shop in Manimajra, had married Saudagar’s daughter, who is a nurse at Manimajra Civil Hospital, six months ago.

Police said Rafat was at the shop on Thursday when Saudagar came and asked him to accompany him. After that, Rafat did not return to the shop nor home. His wife, Raveena, then lodged a missing complaint at Manimajra police station.

The police said Rafat’s decomposed body was spotted by two persons who went to the forest who then informed the local police.

A senior police officer said: “The victim had left the shop with his father-in-law, a resident of Mauri Gate in Manimajra. During interrogation, Saudagar confessed to his crime and said that he was not happy with his son-in-law because his daughter used to give her entire salary to him instead of him.”

The police said Saudagar took Rafat to the forest area and attacked him with a sharp weapon on the neck. A case of murder was registered at Manimajra police station.
