The JD(U) today welcomed senior BJP leader Satpal Malik's appointment as Bihar governor, saying it will usher in a "golden era" in the Centre-state relationship.
Party spokesperson K C Tyagi recalled that Malik had a socialist background and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had worked with him earlier.
"Satpal Malik ji has socialist background and was in Lok Dal as well. He has worked with Charan Singh and V P Singh among others. Nitish Kumar and me too worked with him," he said.
"The Centre-state relationship will enter its golden era with him as the Bihar governor," Tyagi added.
