Liquor baron’s grandson escapes from police custody in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: The grandson of former MP and liquor baron D K Adikesavalu, Geetha Vishnu who was booked recently for negligent driving and possessing marijuana, has escaped from Mallya Hospital while under police custody. He escaped during the early hours of Friday morning with the help of an unidentified person.

According to sources, Vishnu was admitted to Mallya hospital on Thursday and was under police custody. He had rammed his SUV to a Maruti Omni near the South End Circle injuring six people including three children on Thursday. The condition of all the six is said to be out of danger.

After the incident, police took both vehicles into their custody found 300 gm of marijuana in Vishnu’s car. A case was booked against him under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
 
Geetha Vishnu was later admitted in Mallya Hospital as he sustained minor injuries. On Friday morning around 6.14 am he managed to escape from the emergency exit of the hospital with the help of another person who is suspected to be a hospital staffer. In a CCTV footage which is with the New Indian Express, Vishnu is seen walking out.   

Police said that they have registered another complaint at the Cubbon Park police station. Four teams have been formed to nab the accused. Police have already visited his house in Ashoka pillar and farm houses in Whitefield and Chittoor in his pursuit.
