GURUGRAM: An 18-year-old man was allegedly thrashed by three youths when he tried to resist their attempt to molest his 15-year-old sister in the city on Thursday. Police said the accused also passed lewd comments, which smacked of racism, at the girl and threated to kill the brother-sister duo.
He was taking an evening stroll with his sister, a Class 9 student, and a friend in a park at Chakkarpur village near MG Road around 6.30pm when the three youths came and starting eve-teasing the girl. Both victims and the accused are residents of the same village.
When the brother protested, the three rogues, one of them identified as Saurabh alias Guddu (21), allegedly thrashed him and also touched his sister inappropriately. The three criminals fled the spot when the girl raised an alarm. The brother sustained minor injuries and bruises.
In their complaint to police, the brother-sister duo, who belong to the Dalit community, claimed that the accused had also passed racial comments at them.
An FIR has been registered against Saurabh and his two accomplices under sections 323 (causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), 34 of the IPC, section 8 (sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and Section 3 of the SC/ST Act, at Sector 29 police station.
However, none of the accused has been arrested yet. "We are investigating the matter. As of now, the three accused are absconding. But police are carrying out searches and will arrest them soon," said inspector Vikas Kaushik, SHO, Sector 29 police station.
