Suspended for 2 sessions of Delhi Assembly, BJP MLA to attend

OP Sharma, who was suspended from the Assembly for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Alka Lamba last year, will be able to attend the next session of the House.

The Assembly had in March last year suspended Sharma for two sessions.


In July this year, the had accused the of dividing the fifth session into multiple segments to ensure that Sharma does not attend it.

The Cabinet had earlier this week decided to prorogue the fifth session of the assembly and call a fresh one on October 4, a official said.

The Assembly Secretariat today notified the order of Lt Governor Anil Baijal proroguing the fifth session.

"Since the suspension of Sharma last year, the has called six parts of two sessions (fourth and fifth).

"As the fifth session has been prorogued, party OP Sharma will be attending the next session on October 4," Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta said.

Rebutting Gupta's charge, an official said, "It is the government's prerogative to call or prorogue the session of the assembly.
