Fire breaks out in Siolim panchayat office, Goa

MAPUSA: A fire broke out in the computer room of Sodiem - Siolim panchayat office and caused loss of around Rs 3 lakh. According to sources, fire broke out early Friday (September 29) with suspected case to be electrical short circuit.
The incident came to light on Friday morning at around 9am when office staff opened the village panchayat office and noticed the smoke.
Sources said that the fire was reported in the computer room where in all computer related items like networking instruments, set up box, server and its battery, UPS, computer, printer, wiring system were damaged.
Sources also said that some files have also been damaged in the fire. Panchayat officials have estimated a loss of around Rs 3 lakh.
According to reports, files pertaining to construction work, applications from the locals, government files regarding correspondence and memorandums were also damaged in the incident.
