ONGOLE: Two teenagers were washed away in the sea at Kothapatnam in Prakasam district on Thursday morning. According to police, Sk Alfathulla (18), a native of Kothapatnam, along with his nine childhood friends from Ongole, went to the beach for picnic. While his friends were playing in the beach, Alfathulla and D Naga Pawan Kalyan (18) went a bit deep into the water. Both of them were pulled into the sea by strong waves, even as their friends were watching helpless.

By the time people started gathering at the spot hearing the cries of the boys, the body of Alfathulla was swept ashore. Kothapatnam police rushed to the spot and started a search operation for the other drowned youth.  Later in the evening, the body of Naga Pawan Kalyan was swept ashore at Pinnetivaripalle, 3 km from Kothapatnam beach.

The bodies were shifted to RIMS Hospital for postmortem. Alfathulla was pursuing a second year diploma course at a private college in Ongole, while Naga Pawan Kalyan, who hails from Ongole, was studying senior Intermediate at NRI College in Guntur.  Kothapatnam police registered a case and are investigating.
