Ujjain: Healthy lifestyle keeps heart related ailments at bay: Dr Garg

Ujjain: World Heart Day will be observed on Friday. As per data, every year around 30 lakh people in India have heart attacks and one dies every 33 seconds. In Ujjain, four to five people daily lose their lives due to heart attack. Currently, around 60, 000 people are suffering from heart related ailments in city and 450 get admitted to intensive care units every month.

These data paint the picture of unhealthy society. City-based renowned cardiologist, Dr Vijay Garg has given some significant words of advice for keeping the heart related ailment at bay and urges to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Tips to avoid heart ailments


 Expose skin in sunlight for 20 minutes daily.
Minimize salt intake, maximize fruits and green vegetables in diet. Keep away from fried food and don’t reuse the burnt oil.
Avoid tobacco and smoking; include dark chocolate, coffee and soybeans in diet.
Do not bring office work at home and spend quality time with family members.
Keep yourself physically and mentally fit by doing exercise, dance, yoga and meditation.
Admit immediately if someone has intense pain in chest and give them asprin tablet in water.
If heart stops beating, press the chest by lying the person down and admit in hospital.
