Snapdeal announces second Unbox Diwali Sale

E-commerce firm Snapdeal on Friday announced its second leg of festive season sale that will start from Saturday, soon after rivals such as Flipkart and Amazon concluded their first slot of four to five day long season sale.

Snapdeal which in July called off its acquisition talks with rival Flipkart to go solo, had announced its first sale of the season in August.

"Buoyed by the response to the first edition of sales, we have further augmented our offers on best-selling products that are favourites of our shoppers and partnered with our sellers and leading brands to extend industry best deals on them," said Vishal Chadha, chief business officer, Snapdeal in a statement.

One of the key highlights of the sale is Rs 13,000 discount on iPhone 8 and 8 Plus on HSBC Credit Cards. The company is also offering users of Standard Chartered and Yes Bank cards a flat 20 percent discount during the sale period, for all purchases above Rs 2500.

Snapdeal which till last year was the third largest player in the e-commerce market followed by Amazon and Flipkart has now come down the ladder with reduced order numbers.

According to Bangalore based research firm RedSeer Consulting Flipkart led the last week’s five day festive sales with a 58 percent market share in the gross merchandise value of goods sold.

It also says that Amazon India saw a decline in market share during the annual festive sales worth USD 1.5 billion this month to 26 percent from last year’s share of about 32 percent.
