Mumbai: Charkop police have arrested a 35-year-old man for assaulting a woman police officer on Thursday. The police said that the accused, Santosh Kamble, was in an inebriated state when he was present at the police station in connection with a molestation case file by his mother-in-law.
Kamble, who runs a local eatery shop near Gorai beach, reached his in-laws’ house in Charkop on Thursday morning and had a fight with his mother-in-law. The mother-in-law alleged that Kamble also abused her daughter-in-law. “When the case was being registered at police station, Kamble tried to assault his mother-in-law and sister-in-law. When a woman officer intervened, Kamble manhandled her,” said Pramod Dhavare, senior inspector.
The police have registered fresh FIR against Kamble for assaulting a public servant, along with a case of molestation. The police said Kamble is in police custody in both the cases. The woman police officer has sustained minor injuries, said Dhavare.
