HYDERABAD: Ahead of election for identification of recognised trade union in the state-run Singareni Collieries, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today promised jobs to dependents of employees on "compassionate grounds".

Telangana Boggu Gani Karmika Sangham (TBGKS), the trade union affiliated to Rao's TRS, is also in the fray in the polls scheduled for October 5.

With jobs to the dependents of employees being struck down by courts, Rao said such jobs would be given on "compassionate grounds" and that legal advice is being obtained on the matter.

"The dependent jobs would not go anywhere," he told reporters.

The dependent jobs were employment earlier offered to kin of the employees, who are in the age group of 48-59.

Rao said medical treatment would be provided to the parents of employees at hospitals with advanced medical facilities.

A one-time amnesty would be offered to employees who are doing 'alias jobs' (those who work with a different identity), he said.

The MPs of TRS would fight in the parliament for the demand of Singareni staff for Income Tax exemption, Rao said.

Interest-free housing loan of Rs 6 lakh would be provided to the employees, he said.

Interestingly, the trade unions affiliated to opposition Congress and TDP have joined hands for the poll and some leaders of the two parties have campaigned together.

Rao said the state government would work for getting more mines for Singareni at Bayyaram near Khammam to ensure a bright future for the company.
