BCCI commits a big goof-up during India vs Australia ODI, gets trolled heavily

The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) official Twitter account on Thursday copped some criticism after describing the fourth ODI between India and Australia as the “1st Twenty20”. (India vs Australia 4th ODI highlights)

The mistake was spotted after the toss which was won by Australia, a decision that proved right as the visitors were finally able to end their horrendous run on this tour. (India vs Australia 4th ODI Scorecard)

While tweeting about the toss update, the BCCI’s Twitter account erroneously wrote, “Welcome to the 1st T20I between India and Australia #INDvAUS #TeamIndia.”

However, those handling the account did not realise what mistake had been made previously, and they repeated the error in their next tweet. “1st Twenty20. Australia won the toss and chose to bat,” read the following tweet.

Even though the tweets were removed instantly, fans were quick to grab screenshots and share them on social media.

Powered by David Warner’s splendid century in his 100th ODI for Australia, the Steven Smith-led team was able to put an end to the ignominy of being on a losing streak in ODI cricket.

Before the fourth ODI at Bangalore, Australia had lost as many as 11 matches out of their last 13 away from home, with two being washed out. The ongoing series against India too has gone in favour of the hosts, who had sealed the five-match series in the third ODI at Indore.

The final game of the series will be played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) ground in Nagpur, on Sunday, October 1. The two teams will also play a three-match T20I series.
