Ford’s updated Ecosport has been confirmed for launch next month, now the Ecosport which was the car that started the trend of compact-SUVs when it was launched in 2013. Skip forward to 2017, and the Ecosport will need a strong revival because the Ecosport will be taking on two fresh new competitors in the form of the Tata Nexon and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. From the look of it, of course, Ford has worked heavily on the Ecosport giving it a new look, some segment par features and a new engine.

Ford Ecosport 2017 Design:
In terms of design, the Ford Ecosport will get a new front fascia, which is reminiscent of SUVs slightly above it’s fighting class. A new single-piece grille with hexagonal grill patterns replacing the fiesta-esque split grill on the current version. The new grille houses two horizontal chrome slats. The headlamps, the fog lamps and the bumper have also been given a tweak. The side profile, however, remains essentially the same.

Ford Ecosport 2017 Interiors:
On the inside, the Ecosport will get a newly laid out centre console, with a large touchscreen infotainment system replacing Ford’s usual button-mania setup. While the remainder of the front dashboard is carried forward from the outgoing Ecosport, the instrument cluster and the steering wheel get some touch-ups while body-coloured inserts have also made their way in to make the cabin feel more premium. In terms of features, the new infotainment system will get Ford’s SYNC 3 software, which is said to be largely improved from the previous version which was a nightmare in Bluetooth, the system will also be compatible with Apple Carplay and Android Auto (A feature which is still missing on the Nexon). It will also get Ecosport will also get cruise control (Something that you get on the Vitara Brezza but is missed on the Nexon), a speed limiter and a rear-view camera with automatic climate control and the rest of the basic features.

Ford Ecosport 2017 Engine:

The facelifted Ecosport will be the first car in Ford’s portfolio to sport their new Dragon series petrol engine. The current 1.5-litre Ti-VCT mill is expected to be replaced with the 1.5-litre Dragon engine with an estimated power output of 120hp. The 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbo-petrol engine and 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine is likely to be retained for the facelifted EcoSport.
