Man held for Rs 70 lakh bank loan fraud

BHUBANESWAR:Commissionerate Police on Thursday arrested a man on charges of fraud. He has been identified as Milan Kumar Mohanty of Bhadrak district. He used to run a pharmaceutical store in the City, which he had later shut down.
Milan had taken a loan of `70 lakh from Gothapatna branch of Andhra Bank under Chandaka police limits in 2013 by submitting forged documents of a land situated in Aiginia.After obtaining the loan, Milan diverted the money to his 12 bank accounts of different nationalised banks and also purchased land, gold ornaments from the loan amount. But, he never repaid the bank following which the bank registered a case. “We nabbed Milan from his rented accommodation in Sisupalgarh here. A case was earlier registered in this regard and he was produced in a court on Thursday,” Chandaka police said.
2 held for snatching
Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police arrested two persons on charges of snatching. The miscreants have been identified as Ratikant Rout (21) of Unit-VIII and Satyabrata Hota (20) of Niladri Vihar.
The two were involved in snatching cases in Chandrasekharpur. “We have recovered two stolen mobile phones from Rout and Hota. The motorcycle used in the crime has also been seized,” Chandrasekharpur police said. Meanwhile, a case has been registered and they were produced in a court on Thursday.
