Schneider Electric sees promise in India's digital domain

Schneider Electric, a specialist in energy management and automation, is plugging into play in a big way as it sees the electrification and space of the country offering plenty of opportunities.

"I see a lot of potential in in terms of both electrification and in terms of digitalisation... I just think that we need to do more," Schneider Electric Chairman and CEO Jean-Pascal Tricoire said while interacting with reporters here.

"But... somewhere the chance is to write the page new without going through all the steps of evolution which happen in more mature countries -- (that is) to go straight into the new system or systems which are natively connected, systems which are natively greener or easier to operate with less energy," Tricoire said.

He swore by India's attraction as a platform for manufacturing, saying the company exported almost 50 per cent of its products manufactured in the country.

To a query on where the energy specialist stands in relation to the government's drive for Make in and India, the company said, "We feel very much in sync with the economic and political direction given to We believe that innovation brings a lot to society."

The company has made a lot of investment in in various areas, including manufacturing and R&D, he added.

"So, when I look at India, the first dynamics we have in are good," the CEO stressed.
