Mumbai: The improvements committee(ImC) of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) received a proposal from the state government on Wednesday to hand over a few acres of land for Metro 7 work between Andheri to Dahisar for the construction of underground tunnel, stations, entry and exit points, construction of lifts. Interestingly Shiv Sena the largest ruling party in BMC till now opposed all proposals related to the metro work.
But, on Wednesday, it remained silent and raised no objection. Sena corporators in the ImC meeting claimed that the said proposal requires that land which does not have existing open space or garden areas. Therefore, Sena has no objection to it. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is undertaking the Metro 7 project work and for that they require lands which are under the ownership of BMC at Gundavli area of Andheri, Chakala, Malad, Akurli,Magthane and Dahisar.
