more-in

The Mankavu Puzha Samrakshana Samiti is planning to install a protection net on both sides of the Mankavu mini-bypass bridge to conserve the Mankavu river from pollution.

According to a press release here on Thursday, the wall will be 10-ft high and 250-m long. K. Shaheer Ali, president of the samiti, said that dumping of waste by slaughterhouses and others into the river was rampant during the night and when the area is deserted. Installation of the net would be an attempt to conserve the river from the pollution resulting from this, he said. It was also aimed at the samiti’s efforts to conserve the Mampuzha, Kallai river, and Mankavu river, Mr. Shafeer said. Mayor Thottathil Raveendran would inaugurate the function at 10 a.m., he added.
