Punjab BJP chief Vijay Sampla today asked the Congress candidate for Gurdaspur Lok Sabha bypoll, Sunil Jakhar, why Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Partap Singh Bajwa, who is from Gurdaspur, has been "missing" from his poll campaign.
"Where is former MP of Gurdaspur Lok Sabha and present Rajya Sabha MP Partap Singh Bajwa? Why was he not with you when you filed your nomination and why has he not shared the stage with you so far," Sampla asked Jakhar.
Sampla argued that late Vinod Khanna's wife Kavita Khanna was present when BJP candidate Swarn Salaria filed his nomination papers. "She also addressed a public meeting before the nomination. She was also present at the huge rally on September 26 in Gurdaspur," said Sampla.
Notably, Kavita Khanna was also one of the front runners for the BJP ticket for Gurdaspur Lok Sabha bypoll. However, the party chose businessman Swarn Salaria.
Rajya Sabha MP and former Gurdaspur Lok Sabha MP Partap Singh Bajwa was reportedly seeking ticket for his wife for Gurdaspur Lok Sabha bypoll, which was necessitated by the death of BJP MP Vinod Khanna. The bypoll will be held on October 11.
