Road Rash is back, it’s got a new name and some superb graphics, but the basic ethos of riding motorcycles against some weapon wielding competition is still there. Road Redemption as it is being called is scheduled to release on the 4th of October 2017. Now although Road Redemption is more of a spiritual successor to the original road rash, which should be apparent from the close-but-not-to-close name chosen by creators pixel studios.
What makes the game even more special is the fact that, it was literally crowdfunded by fans who’d like to have another go at one of the centuries most iconic PC games. Out on pre-release, the game has been getting some updates to make it suit modern gamers. The essential bit about pulling up alongside another motorcycle and giving them hell for leather with a pipe, chain, baseball-bat is still there. Not to mention being taken out by a rogue truck if you haven’t been paying attention.
Now naturally, modern gamers wouldn’t touch an arcade game the likes of Road Rash which is why Pixel Rush has given the game’s modern soul-sister a bit of a storyline. Although for all those 20-30 somethings looking to get some nostalgia, it’s really easy to ignore the story and play arcade style. The trailer feels like deja-vu all over again, except the gore is now in high-def, which means that the bikes are no longer pixelated blobs on the flying down the screen.
