Navi Mumbai: A 23-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday on the charges of abetting her husband to suicide. The accused identified as Krishna, got married to Kamlesh Bhanushali (26) on June 30, but their relatives said things were never good between them.

Kamlesh worked with his father at their shop in Vashi, and resided with his parents at Green Park building. As per the complaint filed by Kamlesh’s brother Ashwin on September 21, after the couple returned from honeymoon in Goa, Kamlesh had mentioned about a fight allegedly over Krishna’s wish to wear bikini.

“After they were back from honeymoon, she started asking Kamlesh to open a joint account with a deposit of ₹2 lakh to which my brother said no. After that she started picking up fights with every member of the family,” said Ashwin.

Krishna even opposed Kamlesh calling his younger sister. Krishna had twice picked up fights with Kamlesh at his shop as well, and on August 30, she broke his cell phone for calling his sister. “Krishna’s parents had intervened, but her behaviour did not change,” said the elder brother.

On September 1, Krishna’s sister Manali visited them and stayed for a day. “Next day, Krishna left with her and told Kamlesh that she would not come back till he opened the account, and in failing to do so, she would trap the family in a fake case,” said Kamlesh’s brother.

On September 4, when the family had gone out, Kamlesh took the extreme step. “He had left a suicide note in Gujarati which said the reason was the harassment he faced in two months of marriage,” said assistant police inspector Ram Chopde from APMC station. The police also got details of the WhatsApp chat wherein Krishna had abused Kamlesh on various occasions. Krishna was produced before court and remanded in police custody till September 30.
