An organisation working for the youths and farmers in Haryana has launched a signature campaign to demand naming of the proposed airport at Hisar after revolutionary Bhagat Singh. The campaign was launched by Haryana Jan Chetna Manch during a function organised at Narnaund town of Hisar district to celebrate 110 birth anniversary of Bhagat Singh on Thursday.

The manch president Umed Singh Lohan said that after signatures of 1.10 lakh people, a memorandum would be submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “We plan to submit this memorandum before March 23, which is martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh. We will also seek support of MPs and MLAs in favour of our demand,” Lohan told The Indian Express.

The state government is pursuing an airport in Hisar, 150 kilometres from the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, New Delhi. Recently, the state government had applied to the central government for declaring the proposed airport in Hisar under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) hoping that it would be included in the next list of RCS Airports.
