Police in its preliminary probe has found that a group of 3-4 miscreants actually came to kill Tejwinder Singh, who is a financier involved in chit fund business. At around 4 am, the miscreants with covered faces knocked at the door. The entire family, including Tejwinder, his wife and parents were sleeping. Gurdev Singh used to sleep on the ground floor and therefore opened the door.

As per police, the attackers asked Gurdev Singh about Tejwinder, but seeing sharp edged weapons in their hands, Gurdev refused to speak up. He was then reportedly attacked and died on the spot. Later, Tejwinder was attacked in his room. As other members of the family woke up, the attackers fled.

Inspector Sanjay Kumar, SHO, Samrala police station, said, “Tejwinder used to call Gurdev his grandfather and they were distant relatives. Gurdev was living with them since few months. As per initial probe, it is a matter of rivalry due to financial issues. We have found that Tejwinder was booked in a fraud case in a chit fund scam. He owed money to many people and was getting threats. Probe is on.”

FIR was registered against unidentified persons at Samrala police station for murder.
