Healthy students create a healthy society. All students in the State must take necessary vaccinations so that they become a model for the nation, Minister for Health K.K. Shylaja has said.
She was speaking after inaugurating a cycle rally of students organised by the National Health Mission in connection with awareness of the Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign at St. Joseph’s School here on Wednesday.
Ms. Shylaja urged all parents to vaccinate children between the ages of 9 months and 15 years.
She also released a video brought out by the NHM on awareness of the campaign.
Mayor V.K. Prasanth, who presided over the function, promised all help from the city Corporation for the vaccination campaign. He said parents and teachers had the responsibility to ensure that children were administered the vaccine, which would be given in schools and hospitals in the first two weeks and in anganwadis and playschools in third and fourth weeks.
The Mayor also inaugurated voice messaging through mobile phones for making parents aware of the campaign.
